New design!
“The World is my Oyster.”
A common enough idiom now, it was first expressed by Shakespeare in ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor, 2.2, 3-4, Pistol to Falstaff.
An original and innovative pearl necklace design, The World is my Oyster features a 16mm cultured Tahitian pearl. Hand carved with the continents of the World, the necklace surpasses the classic concept of a strand of pearls, to a visionary and meaningful jewel, that can appeal to everyone from a fashionista, to a travel addict, to a bride embarking on a new life.
16mm+ silver/grey cultured Tahitian pearl, 18K white gold, 23K yellow gold leaf: hand drawn template, hand carved, hand gilded. Self-standing miniature sculpture, rotates on its axis like the earth.
If you think about it, creating this design poses some challenges: 1. How do you render the continents on the pearl? It’s not flat like a signet ring, so you can’t use a transfer. 2. How do you carve a pearl? 3. How do you gild it? (Turns out this is the easiest step.)
