DO NOT BOOK at Body & Soul (1 East Mall Cres and 2195A Bloor Street West). They only care about money. I have gotten hundreds of massages in my life and this was the worst massage experience I’ve ever had!

I booked a 45-minute massage at Body & Soul. The massage therapist poured too much massage oil on my back, so her hands were just gliding over my back with minimal pressure. When I asked for moderate pressure, she told me that she would have to charge me extra money as that is considered a deep tissue massage. I explained that I don’t want deep pressure, only moderate pressure. The massage therapist continued to argue with me about the pressure for another 15 minutes, at which point, I ended the session because it was so frustrating when it should have been relaxing. I offered to pay for the 15 minutes, which I thought was generous of me considering how terrible the service was.

When I changed back into my clothes and went to the front desk, the receptionists were even more rude. They said that there is no price for moderate pressure, so anything beyond a very light pressure, they would have to charge more money. I was not informed of this when I booked the session. As well, every other massage therapist I’ve been to tries to accommodate the client’s request for their desired pressure – without charging more money for it.
The receptionists also tried to charge me for a 45 minute session, even though the service was so unsatisfactory and the session only lasted for 15 minutes.

In addition, Body & Soul takes down the client’s credit card information when booking the session. I asked the receptionists to delete my credit card information from their system and they refused! It was only after I informed them that it is illegal for them to keep my credit card information without my permission that they grudgingly deleted my information.

I asked several times to speak to either the owner or the manager, but was told that neither were available to speak to me. This was despite the massage therapist being on the phone with the owner during that time. The receptionists refused to even give me the manager’s name!

All in all, this was – by far – the worst massage service I’ve ever experienced. There are many spas and massage therapy clinics in Toronto; go somewhere else that will provide excellent service.
