Acclaimed Fine Art Jewellery Designer Niki Kavakonis has opened her first flagship store in the Bloor West Village.

All of her designs are original, and thereby you can’t find them anywhere else in the world. ‘Layered with meaning’ as she calls it, each design, whether in sterling silver or 18K gold (sometimes with gemstones!) has a reference point or meaning. Unique!

Her wearable jewellery designs have been featured in the prestigious international exhibitions ‘The Nature of Diamonds’ (Royal Ontario Museum, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Field Museum), 2008 to 2010; ‘Out of this World! Jewelry in the Space Age’, (Forbes Museum NY, Carnegie Museum of Natural History), 2013, and 2015; and she has spoken about her work in New York City, ‘Jewelry of the Americas’, ASJRA, 2012.

Also in 2012 she was named one of the ‘Top (3) Canadian Jewellery Designers’ by Business Review Canada, and named ‘Another Canadian Star’ by renowned Canadian diamond cutter Mike Botha, in an article in 2015.

Her ‘Sunrise Ruby’ earrings, an interpretation of the poem of the same name by 13^th century Persian poet Rumi, appeared on the ABC TV show Castle, in 2015.

And her now iconic ring ‘Tip of the Iceberg’ in 18K white gold and featuring a 2+ct uncut Canadian diamond crystal from the Ekati mine, is perhaps the only non-ROM collection design that has graced the cover of the Royal Ontario Museum Magazine, 2012.

A local girl originally, Niki Kavakonis grew up in the Bloor West Village area, and attended Humbercrest P.S. and Humberside C.I., before heading off to University.

Armed with a studio diploma from Sheridan College, and a B.A. (Honours, with Distinction), M.A., and (PhD) studies from the University of Toronto, plus countless travels, it is these experiences and knowledge that she infuses into every research-based design.
